This report provides a statistical look at the personal income sources of people with disabilities who live in low income households in Canada. These are people who live in "straightened circumstances," are sometimes referred to as living below the "poverty line" and are here referred to as "poor" or as having "low income."

If you would like to help people with disabilities in the Philippines affected by recent natural disasters, CCD will be transferring donations to KAMPI, an organization of people with disabilities in the Philippines.  KAMPI is a member of Disabled Peoples' International (DPI).

Re:  International Day of Persons with Disabilities December 3rd.

Building a more Inclusive and Accessible Canada where Canadians with disabilities can participate equally with others is a duty for all.   The foundational shifts which have occurred have been spurred by persons with disabilities speaking out on barriers as well as solutions.   The voice of people with disabilities and our organizations have been and remain the primary catalyst for change.

Les résultats obtenus sur les récentes dépenses pour les personnes handicapées au Canada sont résumés dans ce document. Au niveau national, les montants d’aide sociale pour personnes en situation de handicap augmentent plus vite que ceux de tous les autres régimes. Ce n’est pas le cas dans les provinces de l’Est ni au Québec. Pourquoi tant de différences entre les provinces?

Le CCD invité au Discours du Trône

Le Cabinet du Premier Ministre a invité Laurie Beachell, coordonnateur du CCD à assister le 16 octobre 2013  dans la Chambre du Sénat, à la présentation du discours du Trône par le Gouverneur Général.

CCD Invited to Throne Speech

Laurie Beachell, CCD National Coordinator, received an invitation from the Prime Minister's Office to be in the Senate Chamber when the Governor General read the Speech from the Throne on 16 October 2013.  During a reception that was held on Parliament Hill, Laurie had the opportunity to meet with a number of MPs and Senators and make them aware of CCD’s current priorities: employment, poverty eradication, disability-related supports, citizenship. 

Rencontres avec des représentants  du ministère des Finances et du ministère de l’Emploi et du Développement social Canada (EDSC)

Laurie Beachell, coordonnateur national du CCD et Michael Bach, de l’Association canadienne pour l’intégration communautaire (ACIC) ont rencontré des représentants de ces deux ministères afin d’inscrire les questions des personnes handicapées dans le Discours du Trône.

Meetings with Officials at the Department of Finance and Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)

Laurie Beachell, CCD National Coordinator, and Michael Bach of the Canadian Association for Community Living (CACL) met with officials at Finance and ESDC to seek inclusion of disability issues in the Throne Speech.
